Fri 30 June- Easy 7km+-

Met K around 3pm at Pelican park. Was a tad fresh. Our motivation levels weren't that fantastic either. As we set off i started talking about something that 'grabbed my goat' and was asked where the fire was. pmsl! So then backed off a little. We both found it quite hard to maintain a consistant pace. We were all over the shop.
Instructions were to cut a min off last weeks time which i think we did by 3 or so. I had to make a pit stop (argh!) and ran against our flow to meet up with K again. I think i missed a km.
I finished in 49.46mins. (k was a little more as she did the full 8k's)
Max HR 175-92%, Av 151-79%. We finished with a sprint to the car. I tried to catch the girl but failed. The woman is just too quick for me!

I think i have lost my mojo since Wed's crap run.

Wed, 28 June- Speed 4km+-

Yer, yer, yer.
This is what i did:
13.30min warm up jog.
4 x 30m knee lift
4 x 30m heel to bum
2 x 30m stupid sideways step
4 x 60m Strides
Then supposed to do 5 x 2 laps, recovery walk half lap, then slow jog half.
Actually done:
1st rep: 3.33mins.
2nd rep: 3.41mins.
3rd rep: did one lap and then went home.
Wasn't the best conditions to be running in. i was a bit cold and windy, but more so, the reps played on my mind and the blister on my foot. (the thing moved around while i was running)
I don't really have an excuse for todays shithouse effort. But believe me.. i am mighty pissed off. And if you feel like telling me off... well right now, i couldn't give a crap.

Tues, 27 June- Bike and Core

Well, opted for the 'home work out' as school hol's are still infecting the swimming pool.
5min w/u, then 30min moderate riding with a 5min c/d on bike. Max HR was 125 (bike reading) just before the 30min mark.
Then did approx 10mins of various exercises: Crunches, push-ups, plank etc. Had to stop before 12min due to phone call. Which turned into a multi-tasked phone call. ie stretching and making appointments. Then quickly left to collect my girls before the $1 per min late fee started ticking over.
Argh... bit of a whirl wind this arvo.

My blister: has dried considerably, but is still sensitive. Will be using some blister block tmw.

Mon, 26 June - Fast 10km + 1km

I was looking forward to today's run as the plan was to run it fast. Well... As fast as I could do it.
Left just after 2pm and started off easy. Track was to be the Disney bike track and Woolleys loop. Total of 10km.(all on tar) As it was a gorgeous day, I wore singlet and shorts. My shins started to have a slight niggle (seems to be regular on this track) but after around 15mins disappeared. I picked up the pace around 5mins into run. Around the 25min mark, I noticed I was traveling quite well. At least on target for pb.
Got to a marker that used to take me 30mins that took 28 today. Another km down the road, I had to stop at the loo's. I reckon I was out of action for just under 10mins. Couldn't be helped though. IBS. Anyway, started off again, but I was a fair bit slower. I'm not sure if this was because I stopped or if I had actually gone too hard too soon. Tried to pick up the pace again and was traveling nicely from abour 8km onwards. Got to my 10km marker at 56.32mins. (toilet stop not included in time). As I was still 1km from home, I jogged the remainder. Max HR 169-88%, Av 157- 82%. (i am classing todays run as 11km's)

I feel that if today's run was my 6km track (which I followed partly) I would have had an accurate time, as pace and intensity were quite good for me. But, def could not have bypassed the loo's!
Am happy with today's run and effort. Especially as there are a few hills in there to boot!

Am a bit scared about Wed now, as Mr Miyagi has made it into a challenging day. I will still be trying my best though. sigh.

P.S Have a double whammy of a blister on my left arch. The worste i have ever had. Roughly 10cent coin size. Will be following K's advice. Also wearing some blister block on Wed.

Sun, 25 June, Bike 30+-km's

What a day. Didn't exactly do much, yet some spontenaety snuck in there.
Was supposed to be a rest day, but ended up riding the somers bike track with a friend.
Not long after, ended up being a pacer for him while he ran 15km's. I found it to be quite interesting watching the foot strike etc. Noticing when the effort changed and fatigue starts to set in. Felt a bit like doc Karl. he he.
Anyway, so basically i rode for 30km's ish.
Effort was prob easy to medium. Am very much hoping that my legs will be fine tmw.
Dinner tonight was a souvlaki. Mmmm.

(Todays km's will not be added to total milage.)

Sat, 24 June- Long 13km+-

Had a bit of a family day today. Almost had to re-schedule todays run for Sunday, but managed to scrape it in.

Headed off for Somers bike track just before 4.30pm (stupid idea cos not much day light left)
Again, eased into run. Pace was just comfy. I got to end of track around 38mins, then started to head back. I was also wearing rain jacket. Wasn't hot though.
I started to pick up pace soon after. It felt comfy to do so. I guess it was a moderate pace. I was able to continue at this pace right up to the end.
Total time was 75.21mins. Max HR 166-87%, Av 156-82%.
I had to wear an old pair of sox cos others were on line still. I will be making sure they are dry next time as i ended up with a blister again. ARGH! Right in the arch.
Anyway.... distance was somewhere between 12.5-13km's.
And it was bloody dark!

Fri 23 June- Pelican 8+km

Weighed in yesterday, 73kg. Same as last week. (At least there was no gain.) ((even though i burst into a tin of Lindt chocky's late last night. Had 4. That can be my freddo Stu))
So.... today....
Met K at Pelican just after 2pm. We had an easy run planned. One that we could chat through. (lol, typical women)
Started off at a really nice pace. Pretty much kept to that the whole way, although little miss speedy gonzalis kept speeding up! (K !!!!!)
K's plan was to do 6 with me then stretch while i completed last lap. WELL..... we discust this during the first couple of laps and decided we would do the whole 8 together, sticking to the easy pace which she seemed to be having no trouble in keeping.
We kept chatting and before we knew it we were taking the last little turn where the horse was off!
She bolted!!
So we managed to run 8+km's together, which is quite nice for me having someone to talk to for a change.
We completed run (prob closer to 8.5km) in 56.21 mins.
Max HR 168-88%, Av 145-76%
All in all, a run i very much enjoyed. Ta K.

Wed,21 June- Speed, 8+-km

As a belated b'day prezzie came yesterday from '4' cousins... i did no exercise and ate party food! Crap. oh well.

Today, left home just before 2pm. Wore rain jacket for precaution. Did 15.40min w/u, stretched, then started with the drills (found out the correct name last night).
5 x 30m Knee lift
5 x 30m heel to bum
5 x 30m sideway stepping. Now look. i really need to be shown how to do this properly. i am sure i am not doing them right. i also cut them down as these seem to make my knee a tad niggly. (today the niggle lasted all the session)
5 x 60m strides @ 5k pace. ( i think i did these faster)
Then ladder reps:
200m - 51 secs (+1sec)
400m - 1.45mins (0)
600m - 2.40 (0)
800m - 3.40 (+5)
800m - 3.39 (+4)
600m - 2.43 (+3)
400m - 1.46 (+1)
200m - 43 (-7)

Recovery was close to exact. 1min walk then i min slow jog. Except for 800's which were 3min standing. (my fav!)
I had many moments were i was ready to give up. My breathing was such a struggle from the 600 onwards. squeeky breathing i will call it. I reckon i was at my limit. I remember walking after the 2nd 600 and calling Stu a few names. (he is the one putting me through all this)
But on the other hand, i have definately noticed an improvement and it is no doubt due to his guidance. So ta Stu..... i think. :-)
There were 2 things that kept me on track today. Satisfaction of completing these very hard reps, and the last 200. I really wanted to run fast.
I ran the last 200 at almost flat out. I noticed my calf was a little sore during this too. My legs feel like they worked hard today.
Max HR 172-90%, Av 146 76%
Oh, and i finished off with a 10min c/d jog. Then stretched.
Total time (excluding drills) 64.01mins.

Mon, 19 June- Crib (zig-zagging) 10km

Left around 2.30pm. Instructions were to run 45mins at HM pace, then increase to 10km pace.
I forgot to check this before i left, so i had a stab and decided on 40mins and the rest was luckily correct.
I jogged from my place to starting point (approx 200m) where i started my watch, and took it steady but not slow, at first. I was running to Crib Pier and haven't done it in ages and i think this is why i couldn't run at a slower pace. Which i didn't realise until i got to the 3km mark in 17.21 mins. I was slightly out of my comfort zone. I tried to slow it down a tad but since finding out that yesterdays 'long run' at an easy pace (well slightly faster) was at 5.50pace, i felt like i was all out of whack today. i had no idea what my 'current' 10k pace or hm pace would be. I was all over the shop.
Just before the 40min mark, there was an incline. Stayed close to the same pace up the hill. HR was sitting around 150-153.
From 40mins i moved HR up to 155bpm. As i simply have no idea what pace i was going. Was starting to puff a little more, obviously, but i could have gone faster.
As i was getting closer to home, i couldn't keep pace the same. Started speeding up again.
Anyway, got home in 58.07mins. Max HR 160-84%, Av 151-79%.
Today was a struggle in terms of pace. I think i ran too fast and completely all out of whack.
Back started to niggle about a k from home.
It's been 3hrs since i finished and my Glutes are a little sore. Also Hammy's. And..... i have a bloody blister on one of my toes!
So, i guess i am not disapointed with todays run, just frustrated that i have no idea how fast i am travelling.
Oh, and i had another date scone today. Bloody dates get me every time!

A little 'Well done to K for doing yet another 6km!'
Go girl!

Sun, 18 June, Long- Somers Biketrack 12km

Due to Fridays 'all nighter', and saturdays 'very hungover' efforts, i decided to run today instead.
Had some porridge for breaky then left just after 11am. It was cold this morning again, so i decided to wear skins. but by the time i left, the bloody sun had come out. Oh well.
Pic is of the bike track. I am approx 2km's from home where i took pic.
went on part of the Disney bike track (where i had shin issues a couple of weeks ago) where i actually started to feel the niggling shins again. I wasn't traveling fast but it seems it's once i have done a little hill work this happens. Down hill first. I wonder if i were to run flat for 20mins or so first, if i would still have the probs?
After 11mins, turned left down South Beach Rd. Shins were ok ish after a little while. (the pain is only mild. like fatigue sort of).
The track is tar the whole way. This may be another reason.
Got to turn around point which was quite handy at the 34min mark. I had a 20sec walk at end from the yukky hill that knackered me.
Finished run in 70.07mins. Max HR 165-86%, Av 157-82%. I felt like i ran a little faster than i normally do my long runs, although i did ease into it at the start.
I ran this same track in Feb with a time of 80+ mins. Was not in good condition at all, both physically and mentally, but to give you an idea.

I had some powerade once i got home, then a sanga for lunch.
And now while typing this, i ate a pria bar cos i was craving a chocky. Which unfortuantely was my last one. Perhaps Marty could wrangle up some more for me. :-P
Also entered the City to Surf today. HSBC start.

Stu tells me that i ran at 5.50min pace. Wholly shit! Now i have a stoopid smile on my face.

Fri 16 June- Easy 8km, Wooleys loop

Didn't have breaky again. Not enough time. Dropped girls off at Ma & Pa's and set off at 8.26am. Shorts and 2 T's. Also planned on taking gloves but only remembered about them 5 mins into run. (@&$!)
Started off very easy. HR was under 150 for quite a while. ( I did a new fitness test on watch yesterday morn. I had already been up with girls before i did, so it won't be acurate, but close enough.) Elite-57 apparently.
So not sure if my HR was any different today cos of that.
Wasn't puffing too much today as i really went at a easy pace. Mainly cos of the cold weather. Whole run was on the road. No pain in legs at all which was nice. actually no pain anywhere in body. I also noticed that as i eased into run, i was able to increase pace slightly with no troubles at the end. Finished 8k in 47.21mins.
Max HR 162- 85%, Av 153- 80%.
Stretched, then ate some porridge with some peaches. Yummo.
My weight is 73kg's as of this morning. I haven't really had anything naughty since '4's party on saturday. Not sure if loss is due to having a tummy bug on wed. But.... a loss. So i am happy.
Anyway, better go home and get ready to go to the pub for lunch.
While i was helping my dad unload 1/2 tonne of fire wood, '4' comes out the back, yells out,"Mum, can we go to the pub now!" PMSL. "Soon baby... happy hour doesn't start until 12"
Hmmm, another pissy missy in the making.

Wed,14 June-Speed 8km +-

Had a yumo Tuna salad sandwich for lunch (10.30am) a pear and a very tiny date scone (can that be my treat stu :-)
Lunch has to be this early when I am working. (don't ask)
Just thought I would let you know how much time there is between lunch and run. I can't change it, but is it ok anyway?
Time was 2.52pm when I set off. 14.20 min w/u jog to oval and around (clockwise) a few times. HR sat around 150, which I think was a little too fast. was puffing a bit too much. Had long sleeve top and rain jacket on with long shorts. Started to feel a little nauseous. Not sure why. I actually had the feeling earlier at work too. (no bun in the oven either to all those perverse minds!!!) Maybe Gall stone thing. Dunno.
Stretched a tad then started with:
4 x 30m knee lift
4 x 30m heel to bum
4 x 60m strides at 5km pace (god I have no idea how fast it was. faster than my normal running pace!)
I also tried to have nice straight arms (bent elbows of course) during strides and it felt really good to be able to concentrate on technique.
Then ( I think name is correct) ladder reps
in brackets is what stu wanted time wise
200m(50sec) - 46.56secs, with 1min walk and 1 min slow jog recovery
400m(1.45min) 1.43mins,1.15 min walk, rest jog (max HR 169)
600m(2.40min) 2.35mins, 2 min walk (max HR 175)
800m(3.35min) 3.37mins, 3 min standing
800m 3.35mins, 3 min standing
600m 2.42mins, 2 min walk incl little jog
400m 1.39mins, 2 min walk
200m 43secs, Yeah baby! I did it agaaaaain!! (max HR 167)

As you can see, I only remembered occasionally to check HR. Thought it may be of interest. Some of the recovery times prob had a few extra secs so I could make my way back to my notes, but more or less were correct. Also as I started thinking crap when it became harder, I decided to walk more of the recovery time.
Now I know my 200 times were faster than instructed, but I really enjoyed running fast. (Bet I get in trouble!) Today was such a change and with various distances, was very enjoyable and satisfying. Although I was struggling with the 800's a little, prob cos I ran too hard with previous reps. I kept thinking of Stu's comment of, "Make it happen!" and I did.
Then finished off with 10 min cool down jog.
Had a (yes very expensive) Banana and drink and stretched.
I haven't had any real 'running highs' since the Geelong half, however, Wednesdays seem to be producing the next best thing.
63mins in total without strides etc.
Max HR 174-91%, Av 146-76%

Had to put this pic in as I just love it. Was adjusting settings on camera to 'best' and was playing around taking pics of '4' and my hands. Ahhh....

Tues 13 June, Swim only

Todays plan was to swim then head off to an appt at 3.15pm then do some core stuff at home. Well, heres how it actually went....
Pool just before 2.30pm.15mins with flippers and constant bloody cramps, then next 15 without flippers and still had constant cramps! Argh! Swimming up the pool with toes bent forward is quite hard to do.
Went to appt then picked girls up from d/c then got lazy again and didn't do any core work. (at least i am consistant with something)
Then blew any last chances of exercise after sipping on a cold glass of white.. again!
I can't believe i forgot to buy a bottle of red. Even after K came into work for a visit, (which promptly reminded me).

Am looking forward to tmw's speed work. Different but looks interesting. I AM going to do all of them! No b/s excuses!!
Toodles.

Mon, 12 June- Board walk. 11km+-

Decided last night that i would get todays run over with early. Especially as K corrupted me into skipping yesterdays run AND eating a fredo and some smarties!
Dropped my girls off at Ma & Pa's who told me i was crazy for heading out in such rain.
Left from home and did a couple of mins jog before starting the watch at my usual starting point. Rainy and very cold. I wore shorts and T with rain jacket on. I felt that i started at a good pace. Slightly faster than i normally would on a long run because i have tmw off and didn't see the prob in doing so.
After 10 mins or so i noticed my shin area was a little sore. It came and went until around 20mins into run. ANyway, ran for 30mins then turned for home on the boardwalk. (it took me 17.30mins to get to start of boardwalk). When i got to the end of boardwalk i noticed that i ran it 20secs faster. Cool baby. Kept on at the slightly faster pace. Headed up the hill that is approx 1km or so. Very slight incline. Enough to increase my HR a few beats. Rain had stopped by this stage and i arrived at my finish point in 59.52mins. Yay, i was faster on the way back even with running up hill.
Enjoyed today as my long runs are my fav. But not the soggy shoes!
Max 165- 86%, Av 157- 82%.
After i got home and did a couple of stretches i did 2 x 50 crunches, 2 x 15 push ups, and 25 diagonal crunches.
Oh, and i ate a banana as soon as i got in the door from run.

Then was taken out for lunch with someone that i now see as being a very good friend for quite a long time. Was nice.

Update with the b'day cake.... Kids loved it! But there was no way that i was letting them eat all that icing! It quickly was removed before they got to dive into it. Thanks K & A for making 4's b'day extra special!

No run, just baking.

No exercise today. Felt quite strange to have a day off actually.
Had a bit of organising to do for my eldest's birthday. Now, I am far from a chef but for some ridiculous reason I got it in my mind that I would scratch bake a cake that '4' picked out of the women's weekly cookbook. A swimming pool! Supposedly one of the easier ones to make. Well.... I had problems from the word go. But, I wont bore you with the details. The only thing on my side is that my girls are still quite young so they shouldn't see it the way I do. Hopefully they just see all the pretty colours.
We will be doing the 'happy birthday' thing around lunch time. Hopefully by bed time the sugar should be all burnt out of their systems! OMG, it is not going to be pretty at bed time tmw. Anyway, I am sure they will have loads of fun.
I plan on running tmw arvo. Not sure where yet.
As for this little verse, it popped into my head just as I turned my computer on, and as you can see I am far from being a poet too. But hey, this is my blog and I will waffle if I want to!

I sit here fingers blackened, from the colour of the dyes,
Molding, mixing and baking until almost the stroke of midnight.
The photo is quite pretty in this handy little book,
But only now do I realize that it was made by somewhat of a cook.

How naive of me to think that I too could bake so well!
Some limits there are in life, and hey, I reached mine tonight I tell.
Little angels lay so still, with beautiful dreams floating through their minds,
A tender kiss on the forehead rouses one, and she queries mummy, “is it day time?”

Gently covering their bodies with warming quilts and teddies by their side,
I stand there gazing upon them, wondering how amazing it is, this thing called life.
These perfect little beings, with perfect fingers and perfect toes,
Their rounded tummies and rosy cheeks, that when they smile, light up and glow.

Presents wrapped and candles placed beside this ‘special’ cake
Time to lay my weary head down and sleep before they wake.
Fingers rubbing softly and pushing open my bedroom door,Voices whisper in my ear, “mummy today I am four!”

Fri 9 June- Pelican 8km

Went down to the park around 11am or so and it was bloody freezing. As you can see in pic, was very foggy still around lunch time. Westernport bay is actually behind those trees somewhere.

Decided to go home and head out around 2pm and hope that the sun would be out by then.

By the time i arrived it was just before 3pm. Did a 5min warm up jog as i was so cold i was worried about snapping something. Set off at a very easy pace. Would have been able to converse.... in great detail. HR didn't break 150 for quite a while. First lap took 13.10mins. (which is very slow) I think my fastest time on this track is around 11mins something. Anyway, i kept to the slow pace as i didn't want to mis out on sundays run due to injury. Funnily enough, every lap was the same. 13.10mins. Amazing how i did that as i wasn't even trying.

After i finished (52.41mins) i stretched and didn't take long to recover (puffing that is).

HR max 159 83%, av 152 80%.

Run was enjoyable but slow. But i know i did the right thing for a change.

After picking my girls up this afternoon i ran up the drive way. whoa baby, sore legs everywhere. I plan on taking it easy tomorrow. Only activities, will be trying to assemble a bike for my soon to be 4yr old birthday girl and LOL baking a cake. OMG. Thanks to Aunty B, i now am locked into making a swimming pool birthday cake. But as there is almost the sound of pitter pattering in their house, i am sure i will get some revenge eventually.

Thur 8 June- Easy 10k, Bike track + Wooleys

Planned on going around morn tea time but didn't happen. Booged around with nanny & poppy instead. Actually today was supposed to be a rest day, but due to skipping mondays session i thought today should be turned into a 'make up' session.
Headed out at 4:30pm. Decided to wear my 'target' shirt. ( fluro reflective shirt worn by bhp workers etc) Apart from that, had the cotton t-shirt and shorts on. Very very cold at first and actually took around 15mins for my fingers to defrost.
Went at a very easy pace for the first 6k's which felt like they took forever. That was when i decided to pick up the pace a tad. HR was sitting around 150 or so then moved up to the 160mark. I felt just out of the comfort zone. Not too hard, just nice. (wish i had a watch that told me how fast i was going so i wouldn't have to waffle on with how i felt i was going etc)
Anyway, i noticed that running on the road is not as much fun as it used to be. Joints were feeling the difference. Lower back, knees etc. tried to run along a little of the dirt areas but not many. Got to my 10km mark at 58mins on the smacker. Stu suggested to run an extra k as fast as i could. But i decided as it was getting dark and i couldn't see the tree roots on the ground, that i would pick up the pace a little but not too much (ok, ok, maybe i was just being lazy!)
I felt like i ran it really well but my watch begs to differ. Finished 11k's in 64.06mins. Which means i took just over 6mins for last k. Perhaps the constant hill all the way home made a difference.
All in all, today was actually a boring run but as stu would say, "a tick in the box". i think i was just going too bloody slow.
Max HR 167- 87%, Av 157- 82%
Last couple of k's were around 164-165.
Oh and i finished with a 5min walk. Then a few stretches, which i will continue tonight while i watch my movie!
And tmw i plan on doing 4 laps at Pelican as i need a softer surface.

Wed, 7 June-Speed 10km+-

As it was dead at work, got to finish early and head down the park for the yukky speed sesion.
Decided to leave car at home. Only took 4 mins to reach park so continued to complete the 15min w/u jog. Stretched a little then:
4 x 30m knee lift
4 x 30m Heel to bum
2 x 30m s/w stepping (still feel like a twit doing these)
3 x 60m strides at 10k pace ( i think i did a little faster)
5 x reps of 2 laps, recovery walk half a lap then very slow jog for 2nd half.
1st rep- 3.34mins (Stu wanted between 3.30-3.40mins)
2nd rep- 3.40mins (knew i slacked off )
3rd rep- 3.37mins ( yep, felt it was around there)
4th rep- 3.34mins ( pushed harder but noticed my legs got carried away when i had quarter of a lap to go. weird)
5th rep- (yes i actually did them all) 3.32mins Woo Hoo baby!!!!! ( Pushed harder all the way and legs got carried away yet again. great feeling)
1st recov was half lap walk then half jog. 2nd was 2/3 walk then jog and same for remainder. Was approx 4mins which included me writting times down.
Finished with a 10min c/d jog home.
Reps were much more achievable as they were only 2 laps. Felt in control of reps and also able to complete them which is a HUGE thing for me. Very happy with myself.
I think i managed to run better due to not having to 'tough it out' in my head. Sounds ridiculous but it is my biggest struggle... fighting with myself. Lol.
Another reason could be that K gave me some great advice yesterday and i think i was able to let some things go today.
So,... no more sooking from this neck of the woods.
Also am eating better. And today will be my first without any grog in over a week. ( any rely's reading can kindly disreguard last sentence) And it's usually only 1 glass of red anyway.
Oh, hr...
Time was 60mins without the non-static stretches (don't know what they r called)
max hr 177- 93% (sat around 172 first few reps )
av 149- 78% (left it on during recovery too )
Starting iron tabs tmw.
Will have another blood test in 2 months to check levels.

Tues 6 June, Swim & Gym

2.30pm jumped into pool. Swam 15mins with flippers on. Nice steady pace. Then next 15 without flippers. The only thing i like about 'no flippers' is that i don''t get cramps in my arches of my feet. OMG this is such a funky feeling after using flippers. felt quite un-co. But, completed it. Moved into the gym and started skipping through my routine as i had some things on my mind and ended up finishing early.

Mon, 5th June

Youngest one had what seemed to be like an asthma attack last night. Waking several times and managing to frighten shit out of mummy. Took day off work to look after her, although she seemed to get a lot better as the house warmed up. perhaps just the very cold nights we are having. She also managed to pick up a cold.
Anyway, went to the Docs to find out that my Iron levels are low. Not aneamic, just low. PHEW!!! had a few other thoughts going through my head......
So, gotta get some iron tabs now.
Apart from Doc appt, kind of had a shit day and put my run off.

Sun, 4 June Long Run 12km's+-

Didn't have breaky as i didn't want to wait 3 more hours before i ran. Finally got to Langwarrin Flora and Fauna park around 10:30am. Did a 5min w/u jog. Then set off on a track unknown. After looking in the Melways, i decided to follow the boundary as there were too many tracks throughout the middle. Eventually had to do a bit of zig-zagging as i was running out of area to run. There were actually a few hills (or rises) in there which made it a little unexpected as i actually changed todays run due to caution with my slightly sore shins.
Enjoyed the run esp as i had no idea where i was going. An adventure i guess.
Ran for 71mins then did a 5 min c/d jog. Went to car to grab my stretching towel and banana. During my stretches i noticed another runner about to head home after his run. I was very excited to see another runner as there aren't really many of us down this way. I started chatting to him and we exchanged numbers so we can run together with his group. (ie his wife and 2 others) Then stupidly asked what pace he did.... "oh around 4.30-5.00min k's". WHAT THE!!! then politely let him know of my snail pace. We will 'possibly' meet up for a run where i have the option of peeling off if i am too slow. He has done 3 or 4 Marathons too.
Anyway, was a nice finish to my run.
Max hr 165- 86%, Av 157- 82%
Effort felt like a comfy run. Able to possibly chat everynow and again. Steady puffing up the hills. Just to give you an idea.

Fri 2 June - Bike track 6.5km

Left just after noon. As this is the track where i had some 'issues' on Mon, i decided to do a very gentle warm up. Also gently worked into the run. Legs were feeling fine until around 20mins into run. But only felt a slight niggle. Mainly in left leg again. I felt like i was going a little slower than my HM pace but my hrm was telling me i was pretty much doing nothing! It was struggling to break into 150. That was even with the rolling rises. It finally broke into 160 toward the end. I was puzzled as to why it was reading so low. 1 of two things are happening,- since the new battery the other day it is actually working properly now. OR, - since i have been using the ex bike, my cardio fitness has improved. I would like to think it is the second of the two but knowing my luck lately, it won't be. Just a case of me being slack.
34.22mins to complete.
Max 166 - 87%
Av 158 - 83%

And for all of you that are aware of the tests i've been having lately,- CT scan the other week has proved to be inconclusive. Now am booked in for an MRI at the end of the month to check the common bile duct (see how many stones are stuck in there) also to check for kidney disease (have a cyst in one of them). Now for the fantastic tasting icing on the fatty, sugar loaded cake, my doc phoned today to let me know my blood test results are back and she would like to see me on Mon.
My sollution to all this madness..... about to head over to K's and drink lots of wine!
This way i might get rid of the 'arhhh phark it' mood.
Hehe, well, thats my excuse for having a drink and i'm gunna stick to it!!!!!!
